What to do if hdrgen's auto-alignment fails
Have a look at hdrprep. This is a Perl script that attempts to register mis-aligned image sequences with the help of ALE, the Anti-Lamenessing Engine.
Shooting Auto-bracketed Sequences with a Canon PowerShot
The Canon Hack Development Kit, CHDK is a replacement firmware for Canon consumer digital cameras. This modification is non-destructive and does not void the warranty.
Some of the interesting things that CHDK might allow you to do with your PowerShot camera include:
- Shoot in RAW;
- Full manual exposure control;
- Time lapse series;
- Automated exposure-bracketing;
- Motion detection;
- Live histograms.
The auto exposure bracketing is perfect for HDR photography. It means we can just put the camera on a tripod, press the button, and don't have to touch the camera again until the entire sequence if finished. All frames within the sequence will be perfectly registered.
